The U14 team played 5 solid games of softball over the weekend of July 21-23 at Germantown's Haupt Strasse Park in the "Summer Nights" tournament. In pool play on Friday, the Chargers lost a nail biter in the last inning to the Wisconsin Scorpions by a score of 3-2. Ali Rowicki pitched 6 solid innings and Tia Tieman lead the offense with two hits. In Friday's second game, the Mayville Sting came back with 5 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to finish the game in a tie, 7-7. Lauren Enoch pitched 4 1/3 innings, giving up only 2 earned runs and Isadora McCann collected two hits in the game.

On Saturday, in the first game of bracket play, the Chargers played another tight game but lost to the Mequon Heat as they put up a pair of runs in the last inning to win 4-2. Bridget Dwyer's triple and run scored in the first inning kickstarted the game but it wasn't enough to overcome the Heat.

On Sunday, the Chargers faced the Brookfield Dash in the Consolation Bracket. After taking an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, the Chargers were lead by Enoch's pinpoint pitching performance through 5 innings. In the sixth inning, the Dash came back with 3 runs to go up 3-2. But, in the bottom of the last inning, Tieman led off with a single to left. After McCann popped out, Lucy Loferski drove a single to left to put two on with one out. Kaitlyn Lewandowski then came to the plate and on the first pitch, she hit a line drive smash past the Dash's centerfielder for a walk-off 3-run home run to win the game.

In the Consolation Championship, the Chargers wound up facing the Mayville Sting again. In another nerve-wracking, back-and-forth battle, the Chargers scored one in the top of the last inning to break the 5-5 tie and held on in the bottom of the inning to come up victorious, 6-5. The pitching combination of McCann and Enoch provided gutsy performances and Tieman again lead the way with two hits. A complete team effort and a great weekend of softball!
